Player confirms season-ending surgery in major blow before Nottingham Forest Europa League tie

Nottingham Forest have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of facing Aston Villa in the Europa League semi-finals. Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a thigh injury. Hudson-Odoi took to social media to post some pictures of himself in a hospital bed. In a post on Instagram, he said: “Surgery was successful but definitely not the way I wanted to end the season but with God’s timing and plan hopefully I’ll be back stronger and better than before. Thank you for your continued support always and the messages, I appreciate all the love and let’s get this recovery started so I can get back out there doing what I love!! No Pain No Gain.” Forest had earlier provided an update on Hudson-Odoi. In a statement, they said: “Nottingham Forest can confirm that Callum Hudson-Odoi suffered an injury to his right quadriceps muscle in our Europa League Quarter Final fixture against FC Porto last Thursday. “Following further specialist consultation, the winger has undergone surgery today and will commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff immediately. Callum is expected to return to full training during the pre-season period and everyone at the club wishes him a speedy recovery.” Forest are also sweating over the fitness of key defender Murillo, who was forced off with an injury against Burnley on Sunday. Asked about Murillo, Forest boss Vitor Pereira said post-match: “I don’t know. I spoke to him and he said he thinks it is not serious.
